So it's a day early for Throwback Thursday, but I'd like to share one of my most favorite personal lettering projects I've ever done. One night in January 2013, I was listening to Coldplay's "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" and decided to doodle the song lyrics. After 3 weeks of working every night on a segment, I finished the project using only blank index cards and black gel pens.
Even though I'd like to think that I've improved over time, I still believe this was one of my most successful projects ever. It pushed me to work with limited materials and to explore different styles, which is how every project should be essentially. I could also see the vintage influence and playful nature of the pieces--characteristics that are still present (or so I hope) in my more recent work.
